I saw a post today—Years I've put in and today I was laid off. Terrified of what’s next. They're not alone, it's thousands of people being hit with this gut-wrenching frustration and worry. If that’s you, I need you to hear me:Â
...you are bigger than this job.
This doesn’t erase your value. It doesn’t take away your intelligence, your ambition, your work ethic, or your ability to rebuild. Don't let this world make you feel small or like you’re just another number or another name on a list. You are not disposable.
Remember, when one door closes, another one is about to open.
This is not the time to shrink. This is the time to stand up and show the world who you are. Your skills, your experience, that’s yours to keep. No employer, no government decision, and no economic downturn can take that away from you.Â
You have a choice. You can let this break you, or you can let it build you.
You can use this as proof that life is unfair, or you can use it as fuel to go harder, dream bigger, and create something that no one can ever take away from you again.
The greatest comebacks come from the hardest falls.
This is your moment to rise.Â
What's Next:
I want to give you a few practical things that may help to go a long with the motivation aspect I gave you above. Let's regain your control:
-
Acknowledge Your Emotions: Process the feelings. They're a valid response to a challenging situation.
-
Assess Your Financial Situation: Take stock of your finances. Identify essential expenses and explore areas where you can reduce costs and explore community resources that may help with bills, ie utility assistance, rent relief, etc.
-
Update Your Resume: Highlight your skills and experiences. Also reach out to your network of friends, family, and professional network for potential opportunities.
-
Consider New Directions: This may be an opportunity to explore new career paths or further education. Reflect on your interests and strengths to identify potential areas for growth.
This is hard. This is unfair. But you will make it through.
Peace.
