The Present Is a Bridge to the Future

Life has a way of pulling our focus in every direction except where it should be. But where exactly should it be?

Every dreamer envisions the future with bright eyes and an eager heart. Well, I'll speak for myself. Whether it's financial freedom, professional success, or personal happiness, we’re all striving for a more exciting version of the future. But truth is, what we achieve in the future is born out of what we do today.

So let me ask the question again, where exactly should our focus be?

Answer: The Here and Now.

We set monumental visions of success, stability, and joy... although this should be empowering, sometimes these aspirations make the path forward seem hard to navigate. Next thing you know, you're scatter brained and your dreams feel distant. Our dreams feel distant because we're staring too far ahead.

What if instead of focusing on the grand scheme of things, we just take it day by day? The key to moving forward is realizing that every step counts-literally. Every step we take, no matter the size, is progress. Every decision to get up and work diligently is a brick laid on the path to our ultimate goals.

I'm usually the 5 year plan girl, but this time I've decided not to fixate on what’s five years down the road and focus instead on being present. I believe opportunities will begin to meet me if I just do the work. I'm not saying not to focus on the bigger picture or that it isn't important. I'm saying the big picture can only come into fruition if you first take those day-by-day steps.

Your future self relies on today’s version of you.

So, what does this look like for you?

It might mean finally picking up that journal to write down the idea that’s been lingering in your mind.

This week, I challenge you to pause for a sec and ask yourself, What step can I take today that aligns with my purpose?

What’s one thing you can do right now, not tomorrow, but today that inches you closer to your goals?

You don’t have to see the finish line to know you’re on the right track. Just keep looking forward. I believe the future belongs to all of us who are willing to faithfully move forward one step at a time.

P.S.

Do me a favor...Celebrate your progress over seeking perfection. Stop being hard on yourself and ignoring how far you've come.

Peace

This is so true! Sometimes I set there bar really high and when I’m unable to accomplish it all, I get discourage. Now I try to not rush the process but learn in every way possible.
