What if purpose isn’t something you find, it’s something we've already been living? You hear of people searching for a revelation about why they’re here, when in reality, our purpose has been revealing itself in ways every day.
Purpose isn't a job title, it’s not a destination, and it’s definitely not something someone else can define for us.
Purpose is the energy you bring, the patterns that keep showing up in your life, and the legacy you’re meant to continue.
We limit purpose to what we do for a living. We think our calling has to be tied to a specific job/career. Truth Is, purpose is not about what you do; it’s about how you do it... It’s the energy you bring into every space you enter. It’s the impact you leave on people when you walk away.
The friend who always lifts people up and whose presence feels like peace, the person who makes you believe in yourself, the artist whose work makes you feel something. That’s purpose in action. Do you see how they show up and serve the world?
Ask yourself: What energy do I bring into the spaces I walk into? Do I inspire, encourage, or uplift? Because, wouldn't you want to be the kind of person who leaves things better than how you found them?
It’s Not About You.
When I hear people speak about purpose, especially on social media, it all feels centered around personal fulfillment. Yes, I'm sure it brings deep personal satisfaction, but I think that real purpose is always bigger than us. Our purpose is tied to how we serve others. If you read the bible, serving others is all up and throughout that book. Unfortunately, many people who scream Christianity don't focus much on the aspect of serving, caring, or compassion for others. But, I digress... this isn't a religious piece.
Think about the most impactful people in history. The ones who changed the world. They weren’t just chasing their own happiness. They were driven by something bigger than themselves. Purpose is not self-centered; it’s service-centered.
The question is not “What do I want to do with my life?”
The real question is: “How can my life make someone else’s better?” (Maybe you don't believe this and that's fine. But if you do, keep reading)
Maybe you’re the person people always come to for advice. Maybe you have a way of making complicated things simple for others. Maybe you naturally bring people together. Maybe you’ve always been a problem-solver, a healer, a connector, a creator. Those are not just personality traits; they are clues.
Your purpose can most likely be found in what others come to you about the most. What comes effortlessly to you can be life-changing to someone else.
-
What do people always ask you for help with?
-
What keeps pulling you back, even when you try to walk away? (For me, it's creating music. 😩
-
What are you naturally drawn to?
If something keeps calling to you, it’s not an accident—it’s a sign. The things that light you up, the gifts you take for granted... those are all clues leading to your deeper purpose. Pay attention.
The Unfinished Work of Your Ancestors. Legacy.
For many of us, we're the first in our families to chase a dream beyond survival. We are the ones breaking cycles, creating opportunities that never existed for the generations before us. What if your purpose is tied to something bigger than just you? What if the dreams you have were planted long before you were born?
Our ancestors may not have had the resources, freedom, or privilege to pursue their full purpose, but you do. What are you doing with that opportunity?
What if somebody prayed for you? What if you are somebody’s answered prayer? The sacrifices our ancestors made created space for you to step into your calling. Like I said earlier, living your purpose isn’t just about you...
It's time to continue the unfinished work of those who came before you.
So, when you think about prioritizing your purpose, don’t just think about what excites you. Think about what must be done. Think about who is waiting for you to step into your role. Think about the impact you can make, the legacy you can leave, and the stories that will be told about you long after you’re gone. Man ole Man, this is truly something special...
I'll end with this... Make Purpose Your Priority
Your purpose isn’t waiting for you in the future it’s alive in you now. It's time you prioritize purpose. That means choosing to show up fully and serve wholeheartedly.
Here's a question to ask yourself: Am I just existing, or am I living with purpose?
...because the world doesn’t need more people just going through the motions. We have too many of those people already. We need more people on 🔥 with purpose. Why not you?
Peace.
