I wrote a song called On and On that I haven’t released yet.
Inspired by The Little Engine That Could– a story we heard as kids, but don’t fully understand until life humbles us. As adults, it’s easy to forget the power of baby steps. We go through things full speed and expect results quickly.
The Little Engine That Could wasn’t the biggest, the fastest, or even the first choice–It was just the one that didn’t stop. Have you ever been in a season where it felt like everyone around you was ahead? They had more support, more money, more momentum?
Then I believe you’ll relate.
That little engine didn’t win because of power.
It won because of belief. Because of grit. Because it kept going. One pull, one push, one inch at a time.
Why the Slow Climb Matters
Success can sometimes appear like a lottery. You get lucky and you catch your moment. For some, it does go that way. But, even for them, I believe it was already written.
What I’ve realized and what On and On is about, is that the silence, the discomfort, and the unseen effort is where your story is built. It’s built when no one claps and you still show up.
That’s what the baby steps are. They’re not glamorous, but they stack brick by brick...and they shift things inside of you.
-
One more day you didn’t quit.
-
One more time you chose discipline over doubt.
That’s the kind of movement that changes you.
This Isn’t a Sprint. It’s a Soul Thing.
You hear all the time: “It’s a marathon, not a sprint.” Shout out to Nipsey Hussle, because that's the most I've ever heard it. Probably even the first time.
But let’s be honest, marathons are long and they freakin hurt. They test your lungs, your legs, your will to keep going. I've never run a marathon, but I'm 100% sure I'm right about this.
Probably the hardest part of the marathon is the middle. That space between where you started and the finish line you hope to get to.
You start questioning yourself. You start talking to yourself, breathe you got this.
You think about quitting.
But that’s when the “I think I can,” “I think I can,” “I think I can,” comes in.
This is when baby steps matter most because they keep you from giving up and will eventually get you there. No matter the time it takes.
This Momentum Tuesday, remember This:
You just need to move. Even if it’s slow. Even if it’s small. MOVE.
Because real progress doesn’t always feel powerful.
Sometimes it just feels like surviving the day and still choosing to believe in what’s ahead.
If you're someone who's currently just moving, with tired legs and doubts in your mind–guess what? You’re already winning.
You’re already doing what most people don’t have the patience or heart to do.
You’re going On and On...
Geesh I can't wait for ya'll to hear this new music. I truly hope it keeps you going.
Peace.
